LESSON 1:    Introduction to Concierge Maintenance

The Concierge Maintenance program contains those features that will keep your Concierge Assistant running smoothly and efficiently. It is also the first place to turn when you are unable to connect to your database. All of the options require an "authorized" user logon with the exception of the "Repair and Compact the Database" option.



Features of Concierge Maintenance Include:

Repair and Compact the Database

This feature is to be used in the unlikely event that your Concierge Assistant database becomes "corrupted". If this happens you will be unable to launch the Concierge Assistant. Simply press the button and your database will be repaired.

Purge Logbook Entries

This feature takes old Logbook Entries and moves them to the "Archive" database. Once entries are placed in the archive they may still be searched, viewed and printed. The only difference is that you may no longer change the entry. Performing this task on a regular schedule, say once a month, insures that only timely and relevant data is in your current database.

Delete Events

This feature deletes old Event Entries from your database. Once an Event "expires" it should be removed from the current database. Performing this task on a regular schedule, say once a month, insures that only timely and relevant data is in your current database.

Import Events

This feature is available only to Event Subscribers. At this time there are a limited number of cities available for this feature. This allows you to replace the subscription event information in your database with more current information.

Delete Logbook Archives

This feature should be used if you are getting low on space on your network database server. All Entries with a Reference Date prior to the date selected will be deleted from the Archive Database.

Copy Current Database

This feature allows you to create a backup of your Concierge Assistant databases. It will not replace a proper backup strategy in your IT Deparment. It does create an additional level of data security.
